At present, the economy of individual EU countries, including Slovakia, is significantly affected by changes in the energy resources market. Customers in network markets are feeling the effects of rapidly changing and rising energy prices, and they have questions about securing the required amount of energy and the technological possibilities of supplying it. The aim of the paper is to identify the positive and negative aspects of systems focused on the heating supply with emphasis on the customer's perspective.

Digitalisation has a significant impact on jobs and the qualification needs of employees. The paper analyses the level of digital skills in individual EU countries necessary for the performance of employees' work. The results show that the level of digital skills varies depending on the job classification and individual sectors of the economy. Almost a quarter of employees feel a lack of digital skills necessary for the performance of their work.

Based on the results of PISA 2018 and the assumption that key competencies are becoming global in today's globalised world, this paper aims to examine and analyse the current state of global competencies in the Slovak Republic. The paper reveals that Slovak students are not sufficiently prepared to face new global challenges, which implies that the Slovak education system requires reform.
